The Charlottetown Film Society Inc. is a not-for-profit organization located in Charlottetown, P.E.I. Incorporated in March 2012. We are currently in the process of becoming the new owners of City Cinema.
Vision Statement: An exceptional, sustainable independent cinema which inspires the study, appreciation and celebration of film while supporting the growth of the PEI film community through an enriched program of significant and diverse films.
From our incorporation papers,
“The purpose and objects of the Society shall be to offer film and live performance in a community operated setting, and in particular:
a) To act as a vital contributor to Prince Edward Island’s film culture by offering
regular presentations of significant and diverse cinematic works;
b) To provide opportunities in our community for the study, appreciation and
celebration of film and the moving image as culturally significant art forms;
c) To acquire by way of grant, gift, purchase, bequest, devise, or otherwise, real and
personal property and to use and apply such property to the realization of the
objects of the Society”
The Charlottetown Film Society is currently in the process of taking over City Cinema, Charlottetown’s independent cinema.
